LHS 150 years Alumni Art Show


Lincoln High School
Alumni Art Show Exhibition: May 10-22nd 2019
Celebration at LHS: Wednesday MAY 22  6:00-7:30 pm
May 22nd will be the closing (last day) of the
Alumni Art Show and the opening (first day) of the
Senior Art Show for class of 2019
All Lincoln High School Alumni may submit
up to 3 recently created artworks for inclusion in the show.
Please spread the word bird! The work will be selected
by LHS VISUAL ART FACULTY for exhibition to
celebrate 150 years of Lincoln High School!
We WILL celebrate!
 Guidelines:
    • Artwork Submission Deadline: March 4, 2019
    • ARTISTS MAY SUBMIT UP TO 3 artworks;
2D and 3D created within the last few years
and is presentable in the Arts Linc Gallery
and hallway display cabinets
    • Artworks selected into the exhibition must have
a high resolution JPEG file for promotional purposes 
and ready to show with mat board or hanging hardware
Final Selected Pieces Arrival at School
       Deadline: May 7, 2019
  • Closing Celebration and pick up: May 22nd 2019

After uploading your work, print your submission forms and have a parent or guardian and an educator sign them. 
 Have your teacher sign the Required Forms                                          BY DECEMBER 13th 2018.  Submit the form(s) and fee(s) following the instructions on the Submission Form and the guidelines below. Please carefully read through the instructions as you go through the registration process
$5.00 per individual work
$20.00 per senior portfolio

Payment should be made via the PayPal link on your student or educator account. 
The Oregon Scholastic regional program is open to all students in grades 7 through 12, who live in Oregon. The Oregon Scholastic Art Awards is celebrated with regional exhibitions and ceremonies hosted by various sponsors. Setting GOALS

One of the essential parts of an Advanced Art class is for each individual person to think about where they are in their own art making journey and reflect on what they WANT and what they NEED. The class is not a race with winners and losers, but it is a journey that we are on together and it would be great if we all feel accomplished at the end.
My teaching goals include; getting to know my students (better) as individual artists and people, creating a safe, inclusive and inviting place for making artwork, and also finding and sharing some inspiration and technical information.
My professional goals include using; technology to communicate clearly, which include using this BLOG, the grade program Synergy! and Google Classroom, and to integrate more with the Portland Art community including Portland Art Museum, local galleries, lectures etc..   We will begin with the Diebenkorn show and other landscapes at the PAM. *Lecture on 9/8! Lets GO! -Ms. Lilly

Welcome to Advanced Draw/Paint/Print class!!

Welcome back!  It seems like summer just began, and now a new school year is here.  
This will be an exciting year full of learning and exploration.  
My summer was filled with adventures with my children and dog, and traveling often!



I attended a workshop training about Collaborative Problem Solving.
I did some great art making like the workshop with 
Baba Wague Diatke and other PPS Art Teachers.  




Went to set up Oregon Country Fair 
to draw numbers on carts.
I designed and drew plans for remodeling our bathroom, 
(I became an architect!) 
My son and I deconstructed the old space. 

We went boogie boarding and surfing at the coast. 

We went to Maine and Massachusetts and had reunions with our three mothers' families.



Made Paper HATS at Pickathon!

Went to the Portland Art Museum and looked at CARS and Diebenkorn's landscapes, 
and got ready for school..... and now here we are!

Sketchbook work snapshot!

Most class periods will involve some kind of work in the SKETCHBOOK.
Students are expected to use visual prompts, class visuals, the ARTTALK book etc.
Students work to complete the assigned sketchbook work as they learn new skills, media, terms and how to better articulate what they are creating.
SKETCHBOOK WORK:
Draw examples of and explain with words == label clearly all of the following terms:       
  • Look at, describe and define GESTURE line drawing
  • Define PROPORTION  and Use the handout information and sketch the human figure that is
   IN proportion (USE the 8 sections)

  • List many ACTIONS that show human movement as you can think of- add ideas from others to this list
  • Record notes for what ways E. Muybridge Etienne-Jules Marey,  Duchamp, and Richter show movement
  • Create study drawings of different action poses using gesture lines to gather ideas about position and proportion. Stay loose and fluid!
  • Divide a page into 2 parts and sketch the “Skeletal System” and the “Muscular System”
